About
Many HSE professionals know this situation well: an incident was prevented, audits run smoothly, processes are followed, and the company remains compliant. From their perspective, the value of their work is obvious. However, when it comes to securing investment, a gap often emerges. While HSE teams talk about risk reduction, legal compliance, and workplace safety, executives and finance leaders focus on budgets, efficiency, productivity, and return on investment. As a result, HSE is often viewed not as an investment, but as a necessary expense. In this session, we explore a journey that many organizations experience. It starts with the realization that existing HSE processes are reaching their limits and leads to the question of how to build a compelling business case for change. We examine the challenge from a leadership perspective: What questions do decision-makers ask before approving budget? Which performance indicators matter most to them? And why are strong arguments alone often not enough? Using practical examples, we demonstrate how common HSE challenges can be translated into measurable business impact. Most HSE professionals already understand the value their work creates. The real challenge is making that value visible and understandable to stakeholders outside the HSE function. Together, we examine costs that often remain hidden today: manual administrative effort, inefficient processes, lack of transparency, audit preparation activities, and disconnected systems. We then explore approaches to making these impacts tangible and converting them into metrics that can be understood across the business. A further focus of the presentation is the quantification of these opportunities. Through a practical example, we demonstrate a business case calculator that enables organizations to evaluate the financial impact of modern HSE software based on their own circumstances and data. Participants will learn how to transform technical and compliance-oriented arguments into a solid business justification, increasing the likelihood that their initiative is viewed not as a cost factor, but as a value-generating investment. What Participants Will Learn How to translate HSE topics into the language of leadership and finance Which business metrics are most relevant for investment decisions How to build a robust business case for HSE software How to quantify benefits and value potential in a credible and transparent way After the Session We invite participants to visit our booth and calculate a business case for their own organization. Bring your figures, your challenges, or simply your questions. Together, we will turn them into a solid foundation for your next budget discussion.
